Hispanic
 

The Hispanic Ministry began with a vision by Pastor Luis Flores of ministering to growing population of Hispanics in our community.  It reaches out to identify Hispanics in Jonesboro area who do not know Jesus as Lord and lead them to a saving relationship with Jesus Christ. 

The Hispanic Ministry offers concerts and other fellowship activities to minister to families and special services for youth held bi-monthly.

Originally from San Salvador, El Salvador, Roxana Flores served many years as a teacher in a children’s ministry where she coordinated appropriate programs for different ages and levels. She came to the United States in December, 2005 and joined the First Baptist Church staff as Director of Hispanic Childhood Education in January, 2006. When she began, the Hispanic Ministry had only 1 children’s group with 5 kids. Under Roxana’s direction, this ministry has grown and now has 3 different age groups: 0-3, 4-8 and 9-12 years old.

 

Roxana is also a vital part of the Hispanic Women’s Ministry at FBC. She teaches a weekly Bible Study for Hispanic women and organizes a visitation ministry in which she visits in homes and in hospital rooms of local Hispanic women. She also assists the Pastor as a counselor for these same Hispanic women. Currently enrolled at the Theological Seminary of Extension sponsored by the Arkansas Baptist State Convention and the Southern Baptist Convention, Roxana is married to Luis and has two daughters, Gabriela and Valeria. 

 

Roxana’s future plans include the development of the End of the Year Service on December 31, 21 days of Pray and Fast in January, 2009 and an Evangelistic Dinner for Couples on February 7, 2009.
